Chalker Memories From Mark Owings: "The party at Balticon 1 was held in a suite on the top floor of the Emerson and run by Mike Hakulin, who I think had dropped out of sight by Balticon 2. The Saturday program was put together on the spot by Dave Ettlin. Since Jack later said there was no program there, either he's forgotten it -- wish I could, I was on it -- or he was elsewhere while it was going on. Maybe we weren't supposed to use the room it was held in. We lost money and Roger Zelazny made up the deficit by prepaying his dues to 1980 or something." BALTICONFERENCE You are all invited to a 2-day party the Baltimore Science Fiction Society is holding at the Emerson Hotel, Baltimore & Calvert Sts., Baltimore, Md. on February 10 and 11, Friday night -- gala sponsored party, talkfest, folksing, drinkfest, and the like, followed by several room parties. Saturday an SF-orlented program running from 2 until 4:30 or so, then a group dinner in the fabulous Hawaiian Room, with great drinks, inexpensive meals, and live Polynesian entertainment. Then Sat. nite another sponsored deal until about 1 A.M., followed by several more room parties open to all. YOU ALL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED. Write for additional info. AND -- charge is $1 for both days, entire proceeds to go toward liquid refreshments for the conference. DIPL0MANIACS WELCOME -- several games, maybe even a small tourney, will be held. SEE YOU THERE?
